OXFORD, England--(NEWS ITEM) -- Oxford Advanced Surfaces Group Plc (OAS), the advanced materials company, is delighted to announce that Dr Jon-Paul Griffiths (co-founder) has been awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry "Young Industrialist of the Year Award 2010" for his dedication and tenacity in researching novel applications of carbene chemistry which led to him setting up the spin-out Oxford Advanced Surfaces to exploit this new technology. The award is run annually and is to recognise an individual who has made a significant contribution to industry in the early stages of their career.

Jon-Paul currently heads up a multi-disciplinary group within OAS investigating the use of the Onto chemistry into multiple commercial areas. As one of the co-founders of the company Jon-Paul has an extensive knowledge of the company proprietary Onto chemistry as well as a background in organic synthesis, organic materials and materials science.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is the largest organisation in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. Supported by a worldwide network of members and an international publishing business, their activities span education, conferences, science policy and the promotion of chemistry to the public.
