Onto™ EP1000 Evaluation Packs now available from OAS

Evaluation Packs of Onto™ EP1000 surface treatment are now available for customer trials from Oxford Advanced Surfaces (OAS). The treatment has been designed to promote adhesion of polyurethane and epoxy coatings to difficult-to-bond substrates such as engineering plastics and specialty polymers.

As well as polyurethane and epoxy coatings, EP1000 has also now been shown to improve the adhesion of silicones, siloxane-based epoxy and solvent -based thermoplastic polyurethane coatings. OAS has demonstrated the effectiveness of the treatment on UHMWPE, PET, high temperature thermoplastic composites and now also on aluminium, and it has scope for use on many other plastic-based substrates.

The Evaluation Pack is a prototype of the EP1000 treatment that allows customers to carry out a simple screen for adhesion promotion with their chosen substrates and coatings. It is supplied with specific processing instructions that are suitable for a laboratory-based analysis. Since the processing methods used in manufacturing vary enormously from customer to customer, following the initial screen we can work with individual customers to tailor the product for commercialisation, should that be required.

Sarah Vickers, Product Manager, commented:
“OAS aims to reach a larger number of potential customers with these Evaluation Packs and we hope to accelerate the time to market by short cutting the development life cycle”.
